Melbourne is the cosmopolitan capital of Victoria, Australia, recently ranked the world’s most liveable city for a sixth consecutive year. Victoria is located in the south of Australia, with a moderate climate (average temperatures around 20°C in late August). The region is green and abundant, one of the world’s foremost wine growing regions, and has a rich history (literally so in the case of the gold rush 130 years ago). The Melbourne region boasts many of the most beautiful and peaceful retreats Australia has to offer.

Melbourne is host to a number of international festivals, including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival. Melbourne Spring Fashion Week will also be running during the conference. Per capita, Melbourne has the most cafes and restaurants in the world, with famous dining locations including the “Little Italy” of Lygon Street in Carlton (a five minute walk from the venue).

Melbourne’s city centre is home to Melbourne’s famed alleyways and arcades as well as other landmarks such as the National Gallery of Victoria, Federation Square, Queen Victoria Market, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. RMIT University is also the site of the Old Melbourne Gaol and is located across the street from the State Library of Victoria.

The entirety of the conference’s program will be held within Storey Hall, which is part of the City campus of RMIT University.
