The Proceedings are fully peer reviewed by the international GIScience 2018 Program Committee. The GIScience Proceedings are made available for the first time in the series as open access, published by Dagstuhl Publishing, as part of their LIPIcs (Leibniz International Proceedings in Informatics) series. Dagstuhl is well-known and world-renowned to every computer scientist as the Schloss Dagstuhl Leibniz-Zentrum für Informatik. Over the years a great many seminars in the area of GIScience have been held at Schloss Dagstuhl, including many with organisers or contributions from GIScience 2018 researchers. In considering carefully this historic move of GIScience proceedings to open access, Dagstuhl LIPIcs was a natural first choice for the new home for GIScience proceedings.
